To our amazing Other Mothers community,
I want to take a moment to share something from the heart. As many of you know, I started Other Mothers over 45 years ago with the hope of creating a place where women and families could find support, affordability, and a sense of community. Earlier this January, I reached out and asked customers to come in and use their remaining store credit because we were in danger of closing our doors. We shut down our buying room, accepted donations only, and offered 20% off everything in the store. It was one of the hardest messages I’ve ever had to share.
What happened next was nothing short of incredible.
You showed up. You donated piles of clothing and accessories. You shopped. You prayed. You shared our post. You told us your stories — stories of how Other Mothers helped you during tough times, how we were part of your lives and now your children’s lives, how this store mattered to you.
Your support was overwhelming in the most beautiful way. Because of YOU, we were able to catch up on our bills and reopen our credit room. The community truly brought us back.

Dear Friends,

Earlier this year, I shared that Other Mothers was in danger of closing after 45 years in business. The response I received from you — our wonderful customers, neighbors, and friends — was overwhelming. You came in to shop, you traded and donated items, and you shared stories about what this little store has meant to you over the years.

Because of your support, we were able to pay our bills, reopen our credit and trade program, and keep our doors open. But even more than that, you put new fire in me — a renewed determination to fight for this store and make it better than it’s ever been.

Since then, we’ve cleaned, reorganized, and improved every part of what we do. We’re faster at processing trades, more organized, brighter, and more welcoming than ever before. I’m so proud of how far we’ve come — and it’s all because of you.

But now, once again, we need your help. The last few weeks have been slow, and we can’t continue this fight without your continued support. If you can, please:

A few weeks ago, I shared something very difficult with you—that Other Mothers was in danger of closing its doors. My name is Sherri, and I started this business 45 years ago as a single mom with a baby, simply trying to make ends meet. What began as a necessity grew into a lifelong passion and a mission to help families through our trade program.

Because of this community’s incredible support—shopping with us, donating items, and sharing encouragement—we were able to meet our immediate financial obligations. Your response truly breathed new life into Other Mothers.

One thing I heard again and again was how much our trade program has meant to your families over the years. That reminder is why I’m so happy to share that our buying room is now OPEN again. We are offering store credit or cash for items we can use, and we continue to warmly welcome donations for those who prefer that option.

While this immediate crisis has passed, we are still in a fragile position, and your continued support will be vital to our long-term success.

As we move forward, we are working hard to serve you better by:

Processing buy-store credit orders more quickly so you can shop while you wait

Being more selective about what we buy to offer the best quality and styles

Reorganizing our racks for a better shopping experience

I truly believe the Lord and this community have carried us through this season. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with us. We are committed to doing our very best for you and hope to continue serving families for many months and years to come.
